• Supervise an assigned shift, making critical plant adjustments to meet all State Water Resources Control Board and AQMD permit requirements for a plant with a 48 MGD capacity. • Communicate effectively with all plant departments and staff, review and analyze laboratory and plant data, monitor sampling techniques, and make recommendations to upper management as needed. • Write work requests, call out on-call personnel to fix critical plant equipment, schedule overtime, and make sound, common-sense decisions. • Write detailed reports for management regarding plant operating conditions and plant crime incidents. • Take part in training new employees, monitor and coach operator performance, write standard operating procedures for procedures, and recommend, produce and initiate improved work methods. • Oversee the maintenance of daily shift logs and the recordings of meters and gauges and calculate loadings, flows, and pumping rates, • Continually evaluate the work of the operations staff, interact with the public in a professional manner, and oversee plant safety training with operations staff.

• Worked at the Rialto Wastewater Treatment Plant, which had a 14 MGD plant capacity and an activated sludge process with tertiary, disinfection, and solids dewatering. • Directed the full range of plant operational duties in all assigned areas, including leading the work of lower-level operators. • Inspected plant operations daily and operated and checked the operation of all wastewater equipment, including pumps, valves, electric motors, filters, and programmable control systems. • Checked and calibrated chemical feeders and analyzers, maintained operations logs, operated the plant computer systems, maintained good housekeeping throughout the plant, and served on-call. • Made critical adjustments to plant operating conditions to meet all State Water Resources Control Board and AQMD permit requirements. • Analyzed laboratory data, performed laboratory tests and ordered chemicals, tools, and other safety protective equipment.

• Worked at the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson which has a capacity of 400-600 MGD. This facility served most of eastern Los Angeles County. I also worked at the Pomona wastewater treatment plant with capacity of 12 MGD. • Operated the Carson facility that had 5 different areas, including 2 older and 1 newer Cryogenic pure oxygen facility, which supplied pure oxygen to the aeration basin reactors. • Learned some of the physics involved in maintaining and operating a very complex and dangerous section. • Stationed in the Secondary-Activated sludge section of the plant, serving as lead and cross-trained in other areas. • While at the Pomona wastewater plant, handled primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment processes, analyzed laboratory data and made recommendations for plant supervision.

• Operated all plant sections, made adjustments, performed maintenance on plant equipment and grounds, and served as a designated trainer for volunteers, interns and new hires for a plant with 14 MGD capacity. • Served as a Lead Operator, wrote work requests to fix plant equipment, learned the activated sludge process, and assisted, conducted, and oversaw plant safety training with the operations staff. • Made recommendations to plant supervision and communicated and organized plant events with other onsite plant departments. • Served on-call for the full tenure with the city, responded to hundreds of emergency call outs with no supervision. • Operated the dewatering plate and frame filter press and drove a Yard Goat to haul solids trailers. • Analyzed laboratory data, ordered chemicals, tools and materials to complete assignments, interacted with the public and city personnel, and assisted Maintenance and Collections with plant related tasks. • Used forklifts, loaders, and other earth moving vehicles to complete tasks, completed shift logs, proactively monitored SCADA and took the lead in several operational maintenance tasks.
