Daniel Harland

With over 8 years of industry experience in the aerospace engineering sector and a strong academic background in additive manufacturing and aerospace engineering, I am a passionate and knowledgeable technical instructor at the University of Lancashire. I teach and mentor students in the mechatronics and advanced manufacturing programs, covering topics such as engineering design, automated production and advanced manufacturing techniques. I am also a PhD student at UCLan, focusing on additive manufacturing technologies and future manufacturing techniques and technologies. I hold a Master of Science (MSc) in the same field and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in aerospace engineering , of which the final year project contributed to a conference paper and a journal paper. I have multiple publications in prestigious journals such as Procedia Manufacturing and Composite Structures, where I explored the mechanical behaviour and performance of novel 3D printed core materials and structures. I am proficient in Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D Printing, CAD/CAM for CNC machining, and Programming and controlling Industrial Robots. I have experience in industry in CNC machine setting and operation, and production planning and scheduling. My goal is to advance the knowledge and practice of additive manufacturing and robotics in industry, and to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
