* Led a team of engineers in testing marine products against a range of regulatory requirements and engineering standards. * Was required to schedule work, approve leave, carry out staff appraisals, arrange training & give a weekly presentation to the executive team on the office’s financial performance. * Personally carried out testing & signal processing on beacon, GPS and RADAR products using network analysers, spectrum analysers, RF power meters and oscilloscopes. * Actively supported the company QMS (ISO9000 & ISO17025) through staff competency assessments, process reviews, calibration of equipment and participation in UKAS audits. * Developed a detailed understanding of the process through which manufactured electrical goods gain the regulatory approval necessary to enter the market place.

* Part of a team developing modifications for the Merlin, Gazelle, Chinook & Tucano aircraft. * Carried out Technical Authoring using ASD-STE100 and Simplified Technical English (STE). * Trained in Quality Assurance and required to work in compliance with ISO9001. * Carried out regular risk & COSHH assessments while serving as the section safety warden. * Held a Government Procurement Card (GPC) to carry out purchases on behalf of the crown. * The highpoint of this period was the modification of a fleet of army Gazelle helicopters to function as air-ambulances that saved the MOD £20 million!

* Repaired and maintained the Westland Lynx Mk.3 and Mk.8 helicopters. * Utilized technical procedures and drawings to install and remove aircraft components & wiring. * Carried out the moving, refueling, launch and recovery of aircraft on airport runways. * Performed the additional role of ‘Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Instructor’. This required training in scientific principles, instructional techniques and equality & diversity policy. * In 2009 I joined an operational support team which carried out specialist repairs and modifications on Lynx helicopters. The efforts of my team that year resulted in a letter of commendation from the base commander.

Maintained and operated polystyrene and polyethylene injection moulding machinery.

* Supervised engineering work on the AgustaWestland EH101 Merlin helicopter (Mk.1 & Mk.2). * Repaired and maintained a diverse range of systems including: Electrical power, fire protection, communication, radar, lighting, fuel, air conditioning, sensor & computer management systems. * Produced and certified legally binding aircraft documentation on a daily basis. * Scheduled upcoming maintenance on squadron aircraft, equipment & tools. * Highlights of this time were providing over-watch for the 2012 London Olympics, spending 6-months working in Oman & being trained at the US Centre for Naval Aviation in Virginia, USA.
