Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology Clinical and surgical Ophthalmologist with extensive experience in clinical research; Early experience in working with industry-sponsored protocols. Degree in molecular biology. Wide-ranging experience in university-based clinical and translational research since 2008: designing & writing new protocols, recruiting subjects, consenting subjects, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation, writing manuscripts for publication, and presenting at meetings. Early research involved Dry Eye Disease and Visual Optics. Gained early experience in working with industry initiated protocols. For one study that investigated the relationship between tear volume and tear quality over time, I also improved the data collection speed by 15x by developing a more efficient, accurate, and reproducible method of data measurement. From 2015-2018, I was Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and director of the Cornea, Cataract, and Anterior Segment Surgery service. I was also the only full-time intraocular surgeon on staff. Extensive clinical and surgical expertise in the ophthalmologic care of cancer patients. Expert in the care of ocular graft versus host disease (GVHD). Ocular GVHD was my primary area of focus for clinical, surgical, and research, and I was the principal investigator on studies for ocular GVHD, including a study to better define the natural history of ocular GVHD. Principal investigator and/or collaborator for numerous institution-wide Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical protocols at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. Protocols in development to study the ocular GVHD population included a clinical Phase 2b/3 trial to study novel drug therapies in treatment of ocular GVHD, as well as more sensitive diagnostic devices for diagnosis and grading of ocular GVHD. Five years full time clinical & surgical experience in Cornea, and 2-3 years in Uveitis, until mid-2021. From 2021 to 2025, I functioned as the Evidence Lead & Clinical Program Leader (medical director) for a geographic atrophy program, leading a multi-disciplinary Evidence Team of 30-40 matrix team members in all stages of Early Clinical Development at Boehringer Ingelheim, in addition to engaging in medical affairs activities. In March 2025, I joined Dompé as Senior Director and Global Development Lead leading Phase 2 and Phase 3 programs in Late Stage Clinical Development, as well as driving Indication Strategy in several disease areas.
