Manufacturing Design Engineer

• Programmed and designed a manufacturing dashboard to track and display key manufacturing performance index, such as cycle time and non-conformance. • Implemented a new safety sensor for the handlers from spring loaded switches to magnetic switches. • Created procedure and troubleshooting guide was created to streamline the manufacturing process. • Analyze field service data and create a summary for aiding future handler design decisions that is most reliable choosing the most reliable robot. • Built, tested and develop manufacturing process for the 200/300mm hybrid handler. • Tested and debugged a first of its kind wafer leveling tool. The tool was a prototype from engineering and required intensive testing in production mode. • Successfully transferred a fleet of handler product back to Singapore factory. Created and streamlined the manufacturing process for these handlers so it can be manufactured efficient using local suppliers. • Resolve handler issue at customer site. Also create an improvement plan to prevent the issue from happening again. • Reverse engineered an E84 testing tool, which is used to OHT communication, and duplicate it for production use. • Study the handler fleet that is currently in production to create a qualification test for the next generation Front-End-Computer (FEC). The old FEC has end of life. • Resolve quality issue and recommend solutions for legacy, current and future handlers. • Manage legacy handler manufacturing operations. • Manage handler salvage operations. • Maintain and improve legacy handler design and cost reduction from 100k to 50k • Manage new product introduction that is coming to Singapore.

Previous it fails at 30N, after redesign 150N. • Successfully improved helical-torsion spring design of key fob which failed after 3 months of usage. Current life is more than 100k cycles. • Developed and standardized a new design process based on past failures and running iterations of simulation to rectify a component with mechanical stress problem.

• Enhanced the laser welding process through designing and building a jig. Improvement of cycle time from 1 hour to 20 minutes per unit. • Designed and fabricated R&D equipment for OSRAM which was bolt onto a LED wire bond machine. • Designed and fabricated an epoxy dispenser machine. This piece of equipment required to inject gold epoxy on to a product at designated location. • Designed and fabricated a crank operated hand forklift for OSRAM which was used to lift a stainless steel structure and insert it into equipment.

Research Engineer

• Repaired and upgraded a dynamometer by building a PID controller, which was programmed with C++, to control the loading on the dynamometer and a computerize data acquisition system and combustion pressure data acquisition system. Data collection of the engine was done autonomously. • Programmed a combustion data analyzer to compute the peak pressure, peak pressure crank angle, start of ignition crank angle, mass burn fraction graph, cylinder gas temperature graph and energy release graph for every engine cycle. This reduced the time to work on the data by 80%. • Successfully built an electronic injector control unit, which was programmed with C++, of to adjust the injector open time and injection timing through keyboard input or referring from a table. The device was used to enable dual fuel injection technology. This method of fuelling had improved the engine efficiency by 10% and reduced NOx emission by 50%. • Designed a high compression piston and simulated the mechanical clearance at elevated temperature and analyze the stresses on the piston at elevated temperature. • Involved in teaching undergraduates in engineering drawing, Agilent VEE, Solidworks. In addition, involved in handling student competition projects such as Shell Eco Marathon and Perodua Eco Challenge.

Equipment Engineer

• Designed alignment jig for the polishing machine and easy-to-clean pressure distributor plate. In addition, computational fluid dynamics simulation was done on the pressure distributor plate to reduce the pressure loss at the pressure distribution plate outlet. This improvement decreased the cleaning frequency of the polishing machine by 20%. • Set up 8 new polishing lines in the factory to increase the factory production capacity. These new polishing lines consist of new equipment which required to buy-off from equipment and process team before release for production.
