My role consisted of inputting daily ticket transactions into the system. I searched the database for errors of entries made from prior periods to ensure ledgers were correct. I volunteered to be part of a team whose aim was to revamp internal policies, this required me to compare US GAAP standards to IFRS standards and present the results to my superiors.

Assisted in producing the latest Financial Report within the first 2 days. Following this my role was to keep debtor and creditor accounts up to date, through filing and inputting transactions into the system. I had to ensure banking information matched that found within the database and create checks for various groups. My role extended to other departments as well. This included stock takes of Active Capital's subsidiary businesses, as well as a personal project, in which I was in charge of high valued stock every day for a week. My responsibilities included overseeing the transport of the stock to and from the refinery as well as ensuring that all pieces were accounted for.

My duties included inputting invoices into Ledgers and verifying whether there were duplicates within the system. I was also able to assist on creating checks, as well as credit/ debit notes that had to be given to customers.

The initial two weeks were spent working with a team on an archiving project. Preceding this I joined the Insurance department, where I assisted and shadowed supervisors with Client's financial reports. This entailed gathering verified sources (through email/fax/ or calling) thus ensuring financial figures were correct. I attended to over 5 clients, and also assisted the Actuary with other portfolios.
