About
Experienced technician with a demonstrated history of strong leadership, field work, scientific data collection, and model engineering in the public service field. I have owned businesses on the side related to natural renewable resources, and construction. During my 11 years working for USGS, I remodeled a farm house. As well as, purchased 8 acres and built a cabin. As the owner general contractor, I took on most of the labor. The sale of those properties landed me out west again to chase my dreams as an avid outdoorsman, creator, and entrepreneur. After 9 years at the Wisconsin Water Science center I transferred to the Colorado Water Science center. After two years at the Federal Center I knew it was time to take the leap and become self employed. Since then I have helped thousands of people with their vehicles and sold thousands of batteries to my clients. When I’m not helping someone with their vehicle, I spend my time woodworking. I specialize in reclaimed oak furniture. At heart, I take pride in helping people directly, and creating art. To further my career I’m looking for a sales position in the construction, arborist, or solar fields. My experience and influence sets me in front and I am prepared for a sales roll related to my background experience.

Hydrologic Technician
United States
Started off as a student right out of UWSP. I worked as the lead tech on the adaptive management project for Dane County, WI. Built the infrastructure for monitoring, water quality and collecting stream flow data at many stream sites across Dane county where there is heavy agriculture. My favorite projects were fabricating new equipment to deal with a variety of different challenges within the natural systems. The last two years in my USGS career were held in Colorado, where I was the lead tech on many big projects in remote locations. Collecting analyzing the data for the public to use was the main goal. There are many extreme weather and remote location variabilities in the Colorado Department and I was the guide for all the backcountry data collection.

Hydrologic Technician
United States Geological Survey
Collected environmental data and assisted with field surveys and equipment installations. Recorded measurements and kept detailed field notes, GPS data, and weather observations. Supported team efforts to maintain test sites, calibrate sensors, and document findings. Experienced with outdoor data collection and basic understanding of soil, water, and land interactions. Manage a field area of 9 sites. Measure discharge routinely using ADV/ADCP equipment. Measure discharge in open water and ice conditions. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and maintain equipment including stage sensors, velocity meters, and automated ISCO samplers. Calibrate, operate, and deploy multi parameter water quality sonds, and rain gages. Apply gage height corrections, shifts, and create index velocity, stage area, and stage discharge ratings. Work records, compute loads and check colleagues’ records routinely. Run levels annually to RM’s and RP’s as well as cross section area surveys. Collect data for in-direct measurements of discharge including surveying high water marks. Install, outfit, and remove gaging stations, rain gages, and staff gages annually. Provide leadership and training for summer students and newer staff. Shop manager. Dedicated to serving the public with the most up to date and accurate data. Major accomplishments: As a new employee I took on the Adaptive Management Project full steam ahead. Started the project from the ground up and am now maintaining all data collection and processing. This includes choosing site locations, installing velocity meters, gage house and gage equipment. Also, I removed the last two cableways in Wisconsin and built stairs and a deck for the most viewed USGS gaging station in the state of Wisconsin @ Wisconsin Dells.

With the proceeds from the sale of the Sunrise Ranch, I bought 8 acres near Blue Mounds State Park with an approved driveway only. Over the first winter owning the property I spent all my time clearing the plot where I planned to build the cabin. This include the drain field area and expansion of the driveway. I went to meetings to get the zoning, permitting, and septic system approved. That included presenting my own surveys and design plans for the house to the county and township. Following through with my subcontractors and never failing an inspection, I built the house in 6 months. I hired out the excavation, concrete, plumbing, electrical, and dry wall work. I framed, roofed, and installed all the finishing touches to the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and common areas. This includes custom chainsaw milled oak shelving units, walnut trim for the stairway and basement. I also worked all the landscaping and planted native plants throughout the property. The project was a success and my ticket out West.

Successfully grew 1,500 lbs of Hemp for CBD extraction. Worked with my family on my small organic farm. Prepared the soil for 5,400 CBD hemp plants. Acquired the necessary equipment to plant, maintain, harvest and dry the crop. With two large buildings on the property, I came up with infrastructure such as light depravation rooms and dehumidifying systems to cure the crop for processing. Unfortunately, the extraction company had a big fire after procession our crop and it all burned down.

· Special Projects: · Fisheries Survey. Technical Reporting, 2009. Researched the attributes of the Tipperary Watershed. This research paper defined brook trout habitat. Independently collected data and extensive recordings of chemical, physical and biological conditions in the stream. It was found that the quality of water was sufficient enough to sustain a reproducing population of salmonids. · Ecological Land Survey. Ecology department, 2008. Independent research of Tipperary Creek Watershed area involved numerous land survey techniques. Reported specifically on the abiotic and biotic factors involved in the construction of the land. Processes of data collection resulted in determination of forest maturity, water quality, soil quality, and species frequency.

Water Resources
Major: Water Resources Emphasis: Soil Science · 3.03 GPA · American Water Resources Association, Wildlife Society, Sustainable Agriculture in Communities Society · Special Projects: · Treehaven Field Station. Summer 2010. Six weeks of intensive field exercises devoted to practicing techniques commonly used to inventory and manage forest, soil, water, and wildlife resources. Special emphasis placed on teamwork, oral and written reports, mapping, air photo interpretation, vegetation identification, and use and maintenance of tools and equipment. · Research Assistant. Water Resources Department, 2011/2012. Surveyed long profiles, transects, and pebble/woody debris counts in several different streams near Stevens Point, WI and the data was compiled into excel. The project focused on the effect of adding woody debris into the roughness coefficient to better calculate discharge using Manning’s equation.
