Chuck Todd is an award-winning illustrator and visual journalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chuck’s recent focus has been on portrait, editorial and children’s book illustrations. http://www.chucktodd.net/ Chuck’s background in visual journalism fuels his curiosity and drive as a visual storyteller. He brings to life illustrations with strong emotional impact and resonance, using a variety of mixed media and digital techniques. His illustrations have been published in newspapers, magazines, websites, journals, posters and children’s books. Recent awards include Illustration West 61, Illustration West 60 and the 2021 Laura Ingalls Wilder Children’s Literature Award for Excellence in Illustration.Chuck works from his home studio in Concord, California, on freelance and personal projects. He has been known to give presentations on illustration and kids’ nature books at local schools, libraries and bookstores. Chuck has an extensive background in illustration, graphic design, infographics and visual journalism. Infographics Designer University of California Office of the President, Oakland, CA Contract infographics designer with UCOP on the UCPath project. •As an infographics designer, and savvy visual journalist, I worked with the UCPath project communications team to create compelling and concise data visualizations of business processes (Future State Process Designs) and other aspects of the project. • My infographics mission was to find the essential story in complex information and transform it into a reader/audience-friendly visual form that improved understanding and perception of UCPath initiatives, services, products and processes. I have taken the lead on establishing design styles and redesigning the section fronts of our publications. In the past year I have been instrumental in setting up and rolling out our new design and paginating system Jazbox. As a Jazbox Superuser and Design and Style specialist I have created InDesign templates and design styles in the new system for the BANG-EB newspaper group. I also provided training and support with the Jazbox system rollout at the San Jose Mercury News. As a superuser I train other users, troubleshoot and give user support.
