Arun Singh
Chief Human Resources Officer @ Mangal Electrical Industries Limited
About
I am an HR, Industrial Relations and Administration leader with over two decades of experience across manufacturing, infrastructure and large workforce environments, and have been working as a CHRO since 2010. My work has consistently focused on building organisations where people, culture and performance reinforce each other, rather than compete. I have led HR, IR and administration functions in unionised and multi-location settings, partnering closely with CEOs, boards and leadership teams to strengthen governance, compliance, leadership capability and workforce productivity. I believe that culture is not a feel-good initiative—it is a business lever. When aligned with strategy, systems and leadership behaviour, it becomes a powerful driver of execution, risk management and long-term sustainability. My approach combines strong HR fundamentals (process, compliance, IR, payroll, cost discipline) with capability building, leadership development and values-based ways of working. I have been recognised by the World HRD Congress and ET Now as one of India’s leading HR leaders, and I actively contribute to the HR profession through writing and knowledge-sharing. I have authored 10+ books and regularly share practical insights on people, leadership and organisational transformation. I am particularly interested in working with organisations that value: • Ethical growth • Strong governance • Leadership maturity • Culture as a performance enabler Having started my career as an engineer, I bring a business-first mindset to HR—grounded in execution, data and outcomes—while staying deeply connected to people and purpose.

This completed my troica of working in Tata, MNC and Promoter driven work culture as in this tenure of my journey of experiencing the 360 degree word of Corporates. I worked with with 6 organisations at the same time - MNCs, Tata organisations as well as few promoter driven organisations. The goal was one - to see why what they say in books of HR is so generalised and unclear and for one to bring real life changes, one has to understand that every organisation is different. Every person has a different perspective. Unless an HR leader understands this, he/she will never realise the true meaning of qualities like 'Listening', 'Humility', 'Observation', 'Learning', 'Growth', 'Culture', 'Professionalism', 'leadership', 'management', 'Teamwork', 'Communication', 'Collaboration', etc. The words which were boring things people had written about became live tools of transformation for me. I could almost see that instead of using jargons and templates mentioned by Managemenet Gurus, one could actually create customised 'simple to understand and impactful when implemented' HR frameworks and tools to help not only organisations which wanted to grow at a moderate pace but also those which wanted a massive 50%+ YoY growth while still not losing sight of process, systems, operational hygiene and compliances. This gave me insights which none could ever get from 1000 books and 10 Ivy League Professional institiutions. I had a new alchemy of People centricity of Tatas, Process orientation of MNCs and Result driven approach of Promoter driven organisations. I now knew, why HR has to keep justifying itself. The fact is - even HR professionals do not know the real power of HR. And this ie because for one to understand the true and hidden power of HR, an HR professional had to first break the comfort zone and practice DIY with different cultures. Transformation is not just a word for me. For any Corporate/Business problem, there is an HR solution which even HR can't see and realise :-)
