I was a library assistant for four years, during which my responsibilities ranged from day-to-day shelving, ILL, to long term projects in Digitization, Acquisitions, and other departments throughout the library.

The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.The Library's mission is to support the Congress in fulfilling its constitutional duties and to further the progress of knowledge and creativity for the benefit of the American people.

* Metadata creation for photographs archived in the University of Washington Library Special Collections for resource description and retrieval for the EHTS website * Creation of original entries for productions, people, and historical articles * Instruction documentation for future interns * Research oriented design of metadata to insure information accuracy

* Social media outreach for the Pacific Northwest Special Collection * Processing print materials including serials, monographs, and folios * Maintaining invoice records and contacting vendors * Preparing phase wrappers and mylar covers * Helping to process donations and other acquisitions for original and copy cataloging * Editing item records and holdings when appropriate * Management of serials' holdings, item records, and housing, including a project to overhaul shelving and housing practices of serial publications * Processing of archival material
