Assists cities and counties with federally-funded Local Public Agency (LPA) projects throughout the programming and design phase.

Performs concrete slump testing, air capacity testing of concrete, concrete temperature tests, nuclear gauge density compaction testing of soil, rock and asphalt. Coordinating with contractors, processing proctor samples of soil and rock. Casting 4x8 and 6x12 concrete cylinders for lab testing, as well as concrete beams.

Development of plans, construction drawings, specifications, design computations, reports and construction documents. Technically involved in detailed design work, detailed checking of work completed by others, coordination of civil and non-civil designs on multi-discipline projects, as well as resolution of design issues that may include performing field investigations.

* Worked directly under the close supervision of a Project Office Resident Engineer of the Missouri Department of Transportation (District 9) * Inspected three construction projects in the St. Louis, MO metropolitan area * performed nuclear density tests to determine thickness of rock as a base before pouring of concrete * performed concrete cylinder tests to determine strength of previously poured concrete in (psi) * Recorded daily work performed in company database.

Design projects, including but not limited to, bridge replacements and resurfacing utilizing engineering software. Determine highway design features including geometrics, standards for highway functional classification, profile grades, typical sections, earthwork quantities, signing and lighting, signals, construction staging, traffic control, drainage, construction limits, exceptions to design standards, and safety improvements. Computes quantities from standards and estimates costs for projects in all stages for the purpose of developing both short-term and long-term plans for construction. Prepare reconnaissance and conceptual reports and other project correspondence, including but not limited to, environmental impact statements.
