Blue Moose Press is an independent publishing company, and its sister company, Blue Moose Films, produced documentaries. Like many entrepreneurs, I wore many hats during my tenure with Blue Moose. I managed a range of creative and technical projects that received international acclaim. Our first documentary enjoyed a theatrical premiere in Paris during the summer of 2014. For the second documentary, I remotely led a team of international filmmakers from a dozen different countries. I edited video, both short and long form, and I marketed these documentaries at the Cannes Film Market in France. On the publishing side, I managed authors, editors, and artists to produce our award-winning books, and I consulted with emerging authors to help them create a social media marketing strategy and choose the most effective publishing path for their individual goals. I hired contract talent and established solid relationships with distribution partners. During this time, I also gained significant technical and marketing skills. I created and maintained networks, installed hardware and software, and did a considerable amount of IT troubleshooting. I know HTML, and can edit CSS and JS, so I was able to create engaging web content and podcasts. My responsibilities also included event planning, so I not only arranged travel and lodging, but I also established professional connections with artists, event coordinators, and bookstore liaisons. I spoke publicly at a variety of genre conventions on writing, publishing, and marketing. As for marketing skills, I used my natural artistic talent to develop graphic design skills and created marketing collateral, a web presence, and book covers. I promoted projects and connected with readers via Social Media, especially Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. In 2009, I was named one of the Top 100 Twitter Authors, along with impressive names like Meg Cabot and Neil Gaiman.
