As part of the R&D team at BioInitials AG, I contribute to the development of a smart toothbrush-based medical device designed to detect salivary biomarkers associated with early signs of asthma exacerbation, potentially before symptoms appear. My role focuses on electronics, embedded systems, biosensor integration and device-level testing. This includes the design, development and validation of a low-power, battery-operated embedded system with analog front-end circuitry, custom potentiostat electronics for 3-channel electrochemical sensing, BLE communication, safety features and power management. I also work on firmware, real-time biosensor data acquisition, signal-processing workflows and diagnostic algorithm development. In addition, I support verification testing, technical documentation and cross-functional coordination with software teams, hospitals, suppliers and external partners, contributing to the preparation of a clinical study and the development of a reliable medical device.

At ZHAW, I worked on applied biomedical engineering R&D projects, developing prototypes and test setups that integrated electronics, software, mechanical design, housing and data acquisition in collaboration with academic, clinical and industry partners. A key project was the design and validation of a novel Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) driveline concept for implantable cardiac support systems, achieving more than 50% reduction in biofilm formation and inflammatory response compared to commercial solutions. I supported the development through COMSOL simulations, surgeon feedback from Charité Hospital Berlin, electrical characterization and animal trials with 20 prototypes. I also developed custom measurement electronics, software and signal-processing tools for experimental testing and technical reporting. Additional work included a portable single-channel EEG recorder with BLE connectivity, dry electrode characterization setups and a software interface for a fluorescence-based in vitro diagnostic device.

During several summer periods, I worked as an Administrative Assistant in the insurance sector, supporting policy sales, client communication and broker operations. I assisted with insurance policies for SMEs, cars and motorcycles, advised clients on suitable coverage options and managed communication between brokers, insurance companies and clients. I also supported claims handling, accident reports and the organization of physical and digital documentation. This role strengthened my communication, organization and client-facing skills in a professional service environment.

As an intern in the Sensors and Measurement Systems group at the Institute of Computational Physics, I supported applied research projects in biomedical prototyping, sensor development and soft-material technologies. I designed and fabricated 3D-printed transdermal drug delivery systems using soft-material chemistry and developed a proof of concept for a flexible pressure sensor based on silicon-based materials and bio-3D printing.
