I have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, and while love that field, I also love working with children. This year I was a one-to-one instructional assistant for a special education student with muscular dystrophy. I have learned many skills from this position, and most notably, the vocabulary of the special education field. This has helped in my translation of the IEP meetings in Spanish to the parents. I thoroughly enjoy working with children, and I also am passionate about helping families who are Spanish-speaking feel included in the IEP and school-related activities. I also have learned great collaboration skills this year, working with the Resource Specialist, Mainstream Teacher, and Occupational Therapist. Prior to working in the educational field, I was a quality ensure control person at Earthbound Farms in San Juan Bautista, California. Before this, I was a chemist in Costa Rica at Chemtica International for two years. This opportunity allowed me to grow as a professional, using equipment and getting practical experience.
