• Provide legal advice and counsel on critical privacy and cybersecurity matters for a company that touches the lives of 150M people. • Primary Responsibility in large data breaches with national impact and significant media attention. • Responsibility for reviewing privacy impact for potential uses of artificial intelligence technology. • Review of data usage rights for internal stakeholders and teams. • Perform privacy exception management for contracts & RFPs. • Review of marketing materials for potential privacy impact. • Responsibility for communications with Federal and State regulators including HHS, Departments of Insurance, and Attorneys General; including the preparation of regulatory filings as well as responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations from Federal and State officials. • Responsibility for communication with business customers regarding privacy, cybersecurity and incident management. • Collaborate with cross-functional business teams on privacy and cybersecurity risk developments and controls for the further development of products and services. • Help develop and maintain corporate privacy policies. • Provide day to day legal advice to a team of privacy investigators.

As a Partner with Nelson | Votto, I utilized my extensive civil litigation experience in multiple areas of the law including Unfair Trade Practices, Consumer Law, and Commercial Litigation. I have successfully won or favorably resolved several high-profile matters at the trial and appellate court level. I also represented a diverse commercial client base who I advise on issues such as company formation, data privacy & cyber security, as well as the daily management of their business entities.

During my time as the Principal for the Law Office of Chris Nelson, I handled numerous types of civil and criminal cases. I effectively prosecuted tax appeals for clients resulting large reductions in client taxes. I was also appointed as a Special Public Defender by the State of Connecticut to represent indigent people accused of crimes. My strong knowledge of civil litigation allowed me to be appointed as Attorney Special Master in the Connecticut Superior Court.

As an Associate Attorney, I performed extensive legal research in numerous and diverse areas of law. I also drafted memorandums of law, motions/pleadings, and client correspondence. I gained first and second chair litigation experience at trials, arbitrations and mediations. I also briefed and argued several appeals.
