Sexual assault had become all too common on campus, and in our dorms. In 2014, a group of about 50 students marched around campus carrying a mattress representing the burden sexual assault victims carrying around every day. Being one of the students carrying the mattress we marched to the President's office and left the mattress there along with a letter in demand of a sexual assault advocate for our students and staff. I attended a Social Justice Summit the same year in 2014. The social justice summit was a gathering of students and staff to discuss different social justice issues. http://www.csusm.edu/sjs/about/index.html During my time at California State University San Marcos I attended a social justice summit sponsored by The Student Life Centers for Identity, Inclusion, and Empowerment at CSUSM. The following year I returned as a facilitator and oversaw activities for my group where group members allowed themselves to open up and be vulnerable as well as learn through others.
