Interned at UCCS for an NSF funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). There I analyzed and quantified chlorogenic acid (CGA) in fruits utilizing microwave-assisted extraction and HPLC-DAD for the comparison of CGA concentrations in fruit skins and flesh and also between organically and conventionally cultivated fruits. I also participated in method development for the green extraction of pesticides using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME). The pesticides were analyzed using GC/MS.
