My role is to lead the Emergency Management Otago Team in the role of Regional Manager and in times of emergency, assume the response role of Group Civil Defence Controller. My day to day role is instrumental in moving the Emergency Management Group’s planning and activities to a higher level of integration and consistency for the long term benefit of all of the Communities of Otago. My primary focus is to: Planning and co-ordination of the work programmes across the region Building and maintaining high levels of interaction with the Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management and all key partner agencies Ensuring that the Group has five fully functional Emergency Operations Centres and a Regional Coordination Centre available on a 24/7 basis Supporting key committees and groups across the Region Although I am based in Dunedin, my regional role requires regular support to each of the five districts of Otago.
