Chris Hall is a New York-licensed Lawyer, with over 24 years of shipping and marine insurance experience. He worked for five years in New York City, and has lived and worked in Asia for 19 years. He is originally from the Great Lake State of Michigan in the United States, and is a 1991 graduate of the University of Michigan, where he double-majored in Asian Studies and Political Science. Chris also holds a 1995 Juris Doctor (JD) degree (with honors) from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans. After graduation, Chris worked for several years in New York City as a maritime lawyer for Nourse & Bowles. Pursuing his interest in Asia, Chris moved to Hong Kong in 1999 to work as a lawyer for Skuld P&I Club, a mutual marine insurance company. In this capacity, Chris handled a variety of Protection and Indemnity (P&I) and Legal Defence (FD&D) cases, as well as provided general legal and loss prevention advice to Skuld's Asian-based members. In addition to claims, Chris became increasingly involved over the years in Marketing. As a result, Chris was asked to open Skuld's Representative Office in Singapore in 2006. He worked to raise Skuld's profile in Southeast Asia generally, by way of active involvement in the regional shipping community. He was also a frequent speaker at industry events. Chris returned to Hong Kong as Vice President, Marketing and Senior Lawyer in mid-2009 to help with the expanding underwriting and marketing efforts of Skuld, where he was actively involved in Southeast Asia, China, Korea and Taiwan, as well as the UK and Scandinavia. Chris moved back to the United States to join the head office of the American P&I Club in New York City, where he held the position of Vice President & Underwriter, focusing his efforts on the Club's business in Asia. In August 2013, Chris returned to Hong Kong. He is now the Managing Director of the Hong Kong office and the Business Development Director for Asia for the American P&I Club.
