As part of my vocational training, I spent 8 weeks working as a harvest intern at Uitkyk Wine Estate. Uitkyk has a fairly small yet highly effective cellar team consisting of the skilled female winemaker (Estelle Lourens) & three permanent labourers, taking on two student interns annually. This team managed to successfully process an impressive 772 tons (58% White & 42% red) of grapes in the 2011 season.

As part of my vocational training, I spent 3 weeks working in the vineyards at Tokara's Helshoogte farm. During my stay at this farm I was exposed to many cutting edge technologies for precision viticulture, in addition to a sustainable approach to farming. I worked closely with the labourers while receiving invaluable knowledge & insights from both Aidan Morton (Viticulturist) & Gerald Fortuin (Vineyard manager).
