There is a difference between data that is technically compliant and data that is scientifically defensible. Across regulatory-facing life science organizations, teams often have datasets that pass validation checks formatted correctly, stored securely, and approved by IT. Yet during regulatory review, due diligence, or late-stage scrutiny, those same datasets can become difficult to defend scientifically. Why does a control group trend unexpectedly late in the study? Why do outlier patterns shift across assay versions or batches? These questions aren’t answered by data hygiene alone. I act as an independent scientific peer “red team” for pivotal datasets reviewing them the way a skeptical subject-matter expert or regulator would. The focus isn’t whether the spreadsheet is clean, but whether the biology, experimental logic, and statistical patterns hold up under challenge. Internal data teams and IT partners are essential for compliance and infrastructure. My role is complementary: to identify inadvertent bias, subtle assay drift, or biological inconsistencies that automated checks don’t surface but reviewers will question.
