• Performed the theory derivation, device design, epitaxial growth, fabrication and characterization of field-induced charge-separation laser (FICSL) in a novel three-terminal vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) embodiment. • Developed precise growth rate control for AlGaAs/GaAs superlattices utilizing broadband reflectance spectrometry and feedback control in a molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system. • Led the structural design and theoretical study of coupled ring resonators as programmable optical filers with InP-based photonic integration platform. • Designed a novel, ultra-compact laser that's smaller than the emitted wavelength in all three dimensions.
