As part of the UC Global Food Initiative (UCGFI) to address food insecurity, food sustainability, and food justice, the communications intern works to promote the goals and accomplishments towards food access and security as well as the local food security coalition which is a direct result of the statewide working group. The Communications Intern is responsible for promoting informative and engaging content across many communications platforms, including social/digital, in person, and print.

* Establishing and maintaining relationships with student leaders as well as campus administration * Helping foster collaborations amongst student environmental organizations * Facilitating ECOalition council and townhall meetings * Collaborating with the ECOalition Facilitation team to create agendas and support the work of the coalition. The facilitation team is made up of student leaders of ECOalition member groups and acts to ensure that the coalition is accountable to its members. * Generate discussion of ideas among organizations that better the environmental community within UCSB * Maintaining a database of ECOalition organizations and members * Acting as the informational center for environmental organizations on campus

·Selected as one of 350 for an 18-month professional development program for high-achieving diverse talent ·Complete business case studies and intensive assignments to hone analytical, quantitative and communication skills ·Participate in four conferences hosted by industry leaders, such as Deloitte, Google, Goldman Sachs, Procter & Gamble and Target

* Participated in quarterly literary arts magazine on both design and layout. * Spearheaded team of five students to produce literary minizine, chosen to be in next issue. * Selected to continue as an assistant designer of the magazine. Will eventually takeover the graduating seniors positions. * In charge of creating online content as well as setting up The Catalyst store that sells merchandise.

* Covered a range of entertainment in Santa Barbara as a full-time general assignment reporter for the Artsweek section of the Daily Nexus. * Professionally interviewed many musicians and actors, providing compelling news coverage of events at UCSB. * Helped produce the quarterly live music broadcast known as “Batcave Session” while serving as the onsite production assistant.

* Brought on as intern for ChristieComms gourmet department and worked with up-and-coming natural snack and beverage companies such as: Icebox Water, B’More Organic, Garden of Flavor, and Yumbutter. * Responsible for drafting press releases for products on a consumer and trade level. * Constructed social media plans for several products on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well as spearhead a social media campaign for Crazy Richards Peanut Butter. * Well versed in brand management and researching for campaigns.
