Editing content for online purposes involved making sure that all stories were SEO friendly. This meant I had to get the most important words and phrases as high up in the article as I could, which increases traffic to the site.

I thoroughly enjoyed my week placement at BBC North West Tonight. Spent the majority of my week on the sports desk, but also had a go at other things, including news, the studio floor, and BBC Radio Manchester. I met and shadowed some great reporters, who taught me a lot. It was amazing to be inside a real newsroom and watch a news programmes being made and broadcast everyday.

Traveled to Istanbul with a group of students from university, to report and create a 'Tale of Two Cities'. This involved finding interesting characteristics of Istanbul, and reporting on the real life stories that we found.

I lead a team of sub-editors, journalists and photographers to produce a student-based newspaper each month. My job involves gathering news, accumulating an article list (including stories that my target audience actually want to read) and then delegate stories and images out to the team. Once all of the content is sent back to me, I edit it to a professional standard and ensure we follow the style of the paper. I also act as an ambassador for The University Paper around Preston and on social media. As this is the paper's first year, it is vital that we spread the word and get as mant students reading it as possible.

Activities and Societies: Captain of Ladies Football Team. CSLA Award - Community Sports Leadership Award. Represented the college in Football, Futsal, Netball & Cross Country. Represented the college in the North East British Colleges Football Team. Completed over 100 hours volunteering for The FA. Selected as a British Coaching Scholar.
