* AdvR performs research and development of photonic devices based on engineered nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. In joining this team, I quickly have scaled up my knowledge in this domain area and have made contributions to the test and manufacture of these devices. Some of my responsibilities include: * Developing and performing experiments related to AdvR's contract research efforts. * Contributing to improvements in test methods and manufacturing for materials, devices, and systems. * Integration of complex laser systems, including atomic transition locked lasers using FM spectroscopy. These systems consisting of many subsystems. * Contributing to planning, test, and analysis for accelerated life testing, environmental testing (including thermal, vibration/shock, and ionizing radiation) of manufactured NLO devices. * Modeling physical systems and analyzing data (Python, Matlab / Octave)

* Newport's Oriel Photovoltaics (PV) Instruments group produces instrumentation for developing and characterizing PV technologies. Oriel serves primarily the research market and is a market leader in PV instrumentation and ISO 17025 accredited measurements. I joined the team to facilitate the transfer and consolidation of Newport’s PV product offerings in Bozeman, MT, and have a strong technical understanding of these products. * My responsibilities in this role included: * Rapid training and transfer of manufacturing processes for Oriel PV products to the Bozeman site. * Recruiting and training technical production staff. * Addressing problems encountered during product manufacture and test to fully understand the root causes and implement solutions. * Facilitating the transfer of new product designs from engineering to full-scale production. * Training, transfer, and recertification of an ISO 17025 accredited photovoltaic calibration lab to the Bozeman site. * Fielding technical sales and service questions.

* Bridger Photonics produces technology used in precision laser metrology and imaging. In this role, I * worked in developing applications for BP's laser ranging and imaging systems. To be successful in * this role, I had to be very effective in learning and applying domain knowledge. A highlight of my * work here included demonstration of high resolution long-range synthetic aperture LIDAR imagery. * This work was performed near the end of the development contract, and we rapidly advanced our * demonstrations from within-lab ranges to 17 km over the course of several months. * I was responsible for the following activities while in this position: * Design, modeling, and prototyping of optical systems. ; * Writing and editing research proposals, client presentations, and journal articles. ; * Efficiently learning and applying insight from theoretical concepts such as synthetic aperture * imaging, compressive sensing, speckle, and turbulence.

* Image Labs International is a vision system distributor and system integrator. In this role I was responsible for a motorized lens controller product. I redesigned the firmware and electronics to improve the product’s performance and also filled a customer service role for users with technical questions or problems. I also supported vision system projects including a railtrack imaging system for visually recording detected flaws in commercial rail. My responsibilities included: * Analog and digital electronic circuit board design and troubleshooting. * Microcontroller firmware programming (assembly) * Customer service and support. * GUI development (C#.NET)

* I worked in an applied optics research group at Montana State University. This group was involved in LIDAR, especially for atmospheric gas sensing, but maintained a broad variety of research projects. Some of my responsibilities in this position were: * Performing experimental measurements of laser signals reflected from honeybee wings. * Designing and implementing a machine vision-based system for monitoring bee activity (C++, DirectShow) * Recording vegetative spectra using a hyperspectral imaging camera and performing statistical analysis on the imagery (R)

* I performed marketing and pre-sales support for Newport's Oriel PV Instruments. In this role I was the sales team’s primary technical point of contact for this product line and frequently facilitated customization of standard products with sales, engineering, and operations. I attended technical conferences and trade shows meeting with current and potential customers of our products, which provided insight for future product developments. My responsibilities in this role included: * Pre-sales technical support, providing technical clarification and applications guidance to customers and members of the Newport sales force and distribution channels. * Researching the photovoltaics market space for opportunities to either improve the sales of existing products or propose new products for development. * Use of Salesforce CRM for managing quotes and gaining insight into the sales pipeline. * Attending trade shows and technical conferences. * Providing on-site sales training.
