I am an Employee Benefits Consultant servicing around 53 participating employers on the GTC Umbrella Funds which includes The Office of the Ombud for the Financial Services Providers. This entails me providing financial advice to employers and members on a daily basis, running participating employer forum meetings and making sure that there is adherence to PF130 and all other applicable governing legislation. I also prepare proposals and do the installation of participating employers. All Special Rules, Revised Special Rules and Rule Amendments are prepared and submitted to the FSCA by myself and I also check and confirm payments to be made in respect of divorce claims. I check and approve disability, severe illness and funeral claims as well as annual risk revision renewals. I prepare the documentation for the terminations of participating employers and funds and also submit and manage the process with the FSCA. I am currently in the process of completing my postgraduate diploma in financial planning though the University of the Free State.

I was the Franchise Director of Tadadiswa Consulting Services t/a Discovery Group Risk Services Pretoria. My company had a contract with Discovery Life which entails that I serviced their clients with new business. I marketed the Group Risk Products of Discovery Life to brokers and their clients and also managed the relationship between Discovery and Brokers. In the process I strived to enhance and grow the market share of Discovery Group Risk and to ensure sustainable business relationships. I completed my RE 1 and RE 5 exams whilst in this position.

I was employed as a Business Consultant and as such marketed the Group Risk Products of Infinit/ Sanlam to brokers and their clients. I managed the relationship between Infinit and Brokers. In the process I strived to enhance and grow the market share of Infinit and to ensure sustainable business relationships.

In the process I strived to enhance and grow the market share of Discovery Life and to ensure sustainable business relationships. I attained the following skills in the position: negotiation, overcoming objections and presentation skills. I achieved Platinum Seal status with Discovery Life, which is the top echelon of Business Consultants and received an award at the annual sales conference in August 2010. I also qualified as a Platinum Seal for the 2011 financial year in March 2011, that financial year ending 30 June 2011.

I was employed as Financial Advisor and did Financial Needs Analyses for clients. I gave advice on financial planning and estate planning. In addition I sold Life policies, disability and dread disease cover as well as assisting clients in retirement planning. Administration of my files was my own responsibility. I generated my own leads and received none from Liberty Life. I received full training and have a total of ninety one (91) FAIS credits.

I was employed as Office Manager, my functions were divided into two separate functions being the day to day running of the office which included all administration and handling of finances and drafting of final accounts. Secondly I drafted all conveyancing documentation which included Title Deeds, Mortgage Bonds and various Affidavits. I also drafted pleadings in civil litigation and have also attended to the drafting of affidavits for bail applications. I liaised with the Master of the High Court on transfers of Deceased Estates and the registration of Trusts. In addition I drafted the final accounts after transactions had been registered at the Deeds Office.

I performed the duties of a conveyancing secretary, specializing in bonds. My duties included general office administration, opening and closing of files, liaising with bond originators and estate agents, handling of enquiries by clients, forwarding documents to the various financial institutions/banks after signing and delivery of Title Deeds and Mortgage Bonds.

During this period I was a legal assistant to Mr. Sieghard Paul. I specifically drafted documentation for divorce matters, including Summons, Settlement Agreements, Notice of Set Down etc. He then introduced me to Mr. Chris Pitzer from the South African Health Care Trade Union for whom I did work in this period. I gained first hand experience in labour matters as I appeared at the CCMA as a representative of SAHCTU, representing members in disputes with employers.
