About my professional background: I am a maritime professional, a merchant ship captain (with unlimited tonnage) with overall experience of over 20 years in the industry. Currently am working as a merchant ship Captain onboard of Oil product and chemical tankers with intentions to transfer onto motor yachts as in parallel of my activities I would like to maintain my seagoing service in a new form. I command ships worldwide and manage crew, providing safe transportation of cargo worldwide, ship's security and overall safety, preserving environmental protection. I handle various sorts of ship's inspections, port state or trade related certification, as well as ship's maintenance, provision handling through budget control and ship's accounting. In cooperation with ship operators I handle voyage calculations and further adhering to the set voyage parameters. About my academic rigor: In addition to my first MSc in ship navigation, I also earned another MSc in Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration from the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden. conducted in-depth maritime safety and wellbeing research and completed an MSc dissertation titled “A synopsis of the seafarers’ wellbeing” in March 2020 at WMU International Maritime Organization. I authored a peer-reviewed study: “Seafarers’ Wellbeing or Business, a Complex Paradox of the Industry” examining how factors like fatigue, reduced crewing, and lack of mental health support affect seafarers wellbeing. My research has contributed to follow-up articles highlighting deficiencies in regulations like the Maritime Labour Convention and chronic psychosocial stress among crew. I hold professional credentials: AFNI, IFSMA, and am an active maritime commentator on LinkedIn, where I share reflections on life at sea, crew wellbeing, and leadership challenges of a modern shipmaster. I truly enjoy my profession and have a very clear vision to further raise awareness on mental health, fatigue, and systemic industry issues. My mission is to work bridges practice and policy, pushing for human-centric reforms within shipping.
