Whilst recruitment is underway for a full time role: - Developing the Waste Minimisation Team - Development of Strategic Initiatives with neighbouring Councils - Create submissions to Ministry for the Environment Waste Reforms on behalf of the city - Manage municipal waste, recycling and transfer station contracts valued at over $6M p.a. - Manage operational budgets of almost $3M p.a. - Coordinate improvements to operational aspects of the Transfer Station asset - Ensure the health, safety and security of staff, contractors, visitors and customers - Encourage waste minimisation and reduction of a city of 66,000 in line with strategic planning - Enable day-to-day recycling and waste operations servicing 25,000 addresses are completed to the satisfaction of our community - Report data and statistics to regulators and Ministry for the Environment in relation to diversion and environmental information - Promote change and build a stable and high-performing Waste Minimisation Team - Solve complex problems, whilst relying on third-parties, to provide good service to citizens - Manage fly-dumping investigations to ensure enforcement action is taken where evidence is robust - Initiate review of the Solid Waste Bylaw - Report to multiple Committees about progress in relation to the Waste Management & Minimisation Plan (WMMP) - Participate and coordinate in waste surveys, audits, and evidence gathering to promote best practice and drive change through changing strategic objectives and educating the public - Create the vision of a Waste Futures Hub to provide amazing opportunities for our communities to divert useful material to charities, for reuse, recycling, repurposing or disposal as a last resort.

- High-profile management of environmental issues within the complex New Zealand military environment, as part of the Facilities Management contract for Spotless Facility Services (NZ) Limited - Monitoring and measurement of 77 technical resource consents which conditionally authorise discharges into the environment from closed and open landfill operations, large scale firing ranges, contaminated stormwater, wastewater treatment plants for multiple communities, land-uses and water abstractions - Engaging military personnel in waste minimisation, environmental awareness and sustainable practices - Overseeing water abstraction facilities from various sources to deliver potable water to multiple communities to NZDWS Standards - Providing innovative environmental solutions to Client to move towards utilising environmental best practice, and monitor and measure current outputs to an auditable standard - Arrangement of contracts utilising a network of environmental experts, to provide Client with best opportunities for ecological, ecotoxicological and environmental compliance monitoring - Liaison and consultation with key project stakeholders to ensure pro-active information flow - Ownership of region-wide environmental projects portfolio including the natural stabilisation of eroding sand dunes, waterway stock exclusion, biodiversity rehabilitation of key waterways - Engagement of staff at all levels to inspire, educate and increase awareness of environmental issues, opportunities, spill management and response, biodiversity, biosecurity and legal compliance

- Member of Upper South Island Management Team, involved in the operation of three dairy product manufacturing sites at Brightwater (Nelson), Takaka, and Tua Marina. - Environmental Management processes to ISO14001 Accreditation Standard. Certified ISO14001 Auditor. - Day-to-day education of employees at three dairy product manufacturing plants, to engage and encourage environmental best practice - Development, testing and maintenance of Spill Management Plan, Wastewater Irrigation Plans, Stormwater and other environmental management plans and procedures - Community liaison role within Golden Bay community, and co-ordinator of planting days, EnviroSchools education classes - Investigation of environmental incidents, following through to root cause through analysis, and developing corrective and preventative actions to ensure continual improvement in all processes of the operations.

- Managing a portfolio of resource consents for industrial operations around the Tasman region and carrying out compliance inspections to ascertain legality of operations, and provide advice where useful - Respond to environmental incidents, assisting with clean-ups, where there was the potential for environmental harm. Recommending actions to remediate effects. - Developed databases to manage the Richmond Airshed and carry out proactive monitoring to decrease air pollution to below the requirements of the National Environmental Standards for Air Quality - Educative role to contractors regarding the effects of sediment and erosion control on earthworks sites, to ensure minimal environmental effect

- Responsible for driving the design, development and installation of Britain's first integrated recycling system on British railway station platforms - Worked with railway engineers and stakeholders to initiate regenerative braking on train rolling stock - Initiated energy audits, and automation of railway station electrics to reduce energy consumption by 12% - Representative Member of the London Green 500 - London's top 500 companies who committed to reducing their carbon footprint by 10% year-on-year from 2008
