It is possible that in the next few years we will develop conscious machines. It is imperative that we identify ways to detect machine consciousness in order to avoid committing "mind crime" on a massive scale. We should also decide whether we want machines to be conscious. Led by Daniel Hulme, founder of Satalia and now CAIO of WPP, Conscium is assembling a team of the world's top neuroscientists and AI experts to work on these issues. We think that neuromorphic computing will be a valuable tool in this endeavour. If it can be implemented at scale, its advantages of efficiency and flexibility will have enormous commercial benefits.
