Cost out consulting Design simplification for easier/cheaper manufacturing

Designed, prototyped and tested all mechanical components for electronic consumer products and medical devices. Also designed and fabricated jigs/fixtures and workholding devices to assist manufacturing with quality and defect prevention. Investigated various manufacturing techniques to optimize costs for various parts including injection molding, machining, turning, RIM, vacuum forming, etc. Mechanical layout for custom circuit boards, design motion translation mechanisms, silicone button keypad underlays, integrated digital displays, gaskets, and others. Provide cost and delivery estimates to project management and customer, provide mechanical guidance to manufacturing team on assembly techniques, and helped mechanical troubleshooting for manufacturing teams. Designed product function/aesthetics with Industrial Designers using digital graphical rendering tools. Created profit center for 3D Printing at Logic PD with the installation of a Stratasys FDM system. Defined equipment to purchase, calculated ROI, completed installation and worked to create charging metrics for billing.

Project Manager for R&D programs. Coordinate and maintain schedule, budget and documentation efforts. Development team consists of marketing, sales, field service, manufacturing, engineering, software, product management, etc. Lead Mechanical Engineer for development programs in excess of $150k in size. Design and configure mechanical components and systems that meet market requirements. Leader of 3D Printing Rapid Prototype Lab. Process models in Stratasys Insight slicing software, and manage materials and builds. Design and configure hydraulic actuators for structural testing and custom testing equipment. Provide value engineering for a product family by increasing functionality and/or decreasing cost, all while maintaining international regulatory compliance.

Operation and calibration of tire testing system. System checkout and validation to verify that engineering design goals were met. Manual and automatic data acquisition methods are used to analyze dynamic system response to square and sine-wave input. Write test definitions and procedures to verify system speed performance requirements; also test system's physical limits of travel.
