Team member of the MUOS Earth Terminal Interface (ETI) group. Developed the controller software that manages CoreFire FPGA designs on target high-speed DSP hardware. Redeveloped ITrack inventory control software from scratch in C++/MFC. Incorporated use of RDBMS for data storage in software. Performed system administration tasks on company’s LAMP servers.

Transitioned user build system from RabbitMQ and statically provisioned servers to an auto-scaling Kubernetes cluster. Added distributed tracing to the platform, to improve observability, mean time to resolution, and accountability. Helped build out platform improvements, including multiple cloud providers, IPv6, service discovery, and pre-rendering. Improved user-facing Identity and E-Commerce microservices for use on static websites.

Took ownership and >75% engineering responsibility for real-time match experience product, MatchCenter. Redesigned MatchCenter product from scratch to be responsive and performant. Upgraded MatchCenter to utilize the same rendering code for both client and server to eliminate UI inconsistency. Transitioned code and database from Couchbase to Redis in <1 week with no production issues. Improved performance and stability by significant margins. Assisted in architecture and engineering decisions for entire suite of MLS Digital offerings. Added metric tracking to multiple products to improve operational visibility and issue response.

Re-architected internal messaging system from a single point of failure to a highly available and scalable system using Go. Championed transition to container-based deployment and orchestration for compatible services. Designed and implemented infrastructure workflow using Terraform and Terraform Enterprise. Upgraded infrastructure and application monitoring to provide better visibility, granularity, and density using Telegraf, InfluxDB, and Grafana. Oversaw project that drastically increased automated test coverage of the REST API. Upgraded Node.js from 0.10 to 6 across all services, while also implementing enforcement of coding standards and best practices. Coordinated with front end engineers to implement features in the REST API required by the web UI.
