I'm a Software Engineer at Datavolo focused on building the core platform centered around Apache NiFi. Our goal is to help organizations build and manage data pipelines for multimodal AI. Previously I was a Principal Software Engineer at Cloudera working on the Data in Motion engineering team. My primary area of expertise is designing and developing back-end Java applications, including the project structures, build systems, database schemas, data access layers, REST APIs, and authentication and authorization mechanisms. I’ve worked closely with storage & processing systems, including HDFS, HBase, Kafka, Solr, and relational databases, as well as standard data formats, such as JSON, XML, Avro, and Parquet. Some of the tools and frameworks that I regularly use are IntelliJ, Spring/Spring Boot, Jersey, Maven, Flyway, and Test Containers. My favorite part of software development is the feeling of creating something new and putting it in the hands of users to solve their problem. I’m also passionate about helping and teaching others, whether it be through answering questions on forums, writing blog posts, or presenting at a conference or meetup. My education includes an MS in Computer Science from John Hopkins University, and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland at College Park.
