Responsible for managing exploratory research, product & technology development (including some engineering), sales and marketing plus the development of new business ventures.

Responsible for managing and integrating a 6 person engineering department and a 30 person maintenance department including approximately $1,500,000/yr of capital projects and a $2,500,000 annual expense budget.

Led the efficient global operation of gum base manufacturing at 4 locations on 3 continents. Coordinated supply chain, manufacturing and R&D activities. By building and training strong interconnected teams I dramatically improved quality while increasing capacity and productivity at all four sites.

Emergency manager of new gum base factory tasked with restoring effective operations to a failed start-up. The original manager was terminated, the organization was in disarray and the installation was poorly engineered. Used leadership, technical and problem solving skills to resolve production, quality and engineering issues while guiding a newly constituted and growing work force to improve productivity and quality. Using lean six sigma methodologies, I increased productivity and reduced rework, debottlenecking key choke points and reducing cycle time. Expanded production, hired and trained my successor and laid out a 3 year manufacturing strategy which he successfully implemented under my guidance.

Managed a multidisciplinary group responsible for the development of all gum bases and new gum base related technologies for the Wrigley Company.

Served as unrestricted line officer onboard two US Navy warships in Combat Information Center and in Engineering. Gained valuable leadership and managerial experience leading divisions of over 30 men. Assigned Top secret clearance. Left active duty as a lieutenant and eventually retired from the reserves in 1996 as a commander.
