Bridget Thomas
School Counselor @ Special School District of St. Louis County
About
I am currently employed by Special School District and I have worked closely with several St. Louis County School Districts throughout the years. This gave me a unique opportunity to learn about both special education and general education from several different school district perspectives. When the opportunity came up to work in a school district, I was happy to enter this new phase of my career. I have always believed in the power of education and that all students deserve to succeed therefore working at SSD was a wonderful fit. In addition, my prior experiences with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns was a basis for my work at SSD and a strong desire to support students with these concerns to be successful. Prior to my employment with Special School District, I worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor for several years. I have worked with a very diverse group of clients/students including race, age, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, etc. With that being said, my focus has primarily been working with adolescents through the residential centers as well as in my private practice. In my work in several residential centers, I provided individual, family, and group therapy. Through my work at Family Care Center, I was able to provide individual and family therapy to clients with, but not limited to PTSD, ADHD, Bi-Polar, depression, and anxiety. Family Care Center also allowed me the opportunity to be the Executive Director. I was in charge of the day to day operations of the practice, supervision of clerical staff, as well as providing guidance for our contracted counselors. I have been very lucky in my career to have had the opportunities that have helped to increase my clinical and leadership skills.
