I collaborated with the first John Deere power electronics team to develop class B electrical inverters in the 500kW range for 644k and 944k hybrid electric loaders and for OEM off-road vehicle applications that can withstand extremely harsh environments. As one of the first people to be hired onto an interdisciplinary team, I learned how to work effectively and take a product from conception to production. I played an integral role in the development of the electric drivetrain and the setup of the power electronics laboratory for John Deere. Some of my responsibilities included: - Start to finish ownership of the control board—designing switch mode power supplies, EMI filtering, digital and analog control and sensor electronics. - Simulating circuits and systems - Experimental verification of power electronics components and the electric machines - Troubleshooting technical failures in the power electronic drive train components - Interpreting, designing and testing to various standards (i.e. IEC, UL, SAE). - Writing procedures, overseeing, carrying out, and documenting product tests
