I am honoured and excited to have been nominated by the Faculty of Arts to serve as a HKU-100 Assistant Professor. I look forward to continually serving HKU in research, teaching, and service as a member of this wonderful community.

I serve as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Hong Kong. I am involved with the pioneering of the MA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics programme, as well as running the knowledge exchange portfolio for the department.

I serve as an advisor (2024-6) to an interdisciplinary research cluster within the Institute of Data Sciences, as well as the Vice Chair of Organising Committee of the Inaugural Hong Kong Global AI Governance Conference 2026, a flagship high-level policy conference convening global thinkers and regional leaders in AI research, policy, and practice to explore a critical yet under-explored dimension of AI governance: inclusivity beyond the US-China binary. Eighty percent of the world’s population lives outside China and the United States. How should we meaningfully engage the proverbial “Rest of the World” in conversations about AI governance, regulation, and the future of AI?

I am pleased to be joining the Asia Society Centre for China Analysis family as a Non-resident Honorary Fellow.

Inquiry is an international peer-reviewed journal publishing work within in all areas of philosophy. It was founded by Arne Næss in 1958. The journal is a forum for presenting the best of philosophical thinking from a variety of perspectives. Inquiry publishes research articles, symposia, special issues, target articles, review essays, and critical discussions. I serve amongst the Associate Editors to the journal, tasked with reviewing and vetting submissions under the leadership of the Editor-in-Chief.

I serve as a Research Fellow contributing towards a newly established think-tank at the University of Hong Kong that looks at contemporary Chinese foreign policy, political economy, and its relationship with the world at large. The inaugural director for the think-tank is Professor Li Cheng (HKU).

On the 6th anniversary since the Oxford Political Review's founding (in Dec 2018), I have taken up the position of Chairmanship of our Board of Directors, comprising former senior editors and senior leaders of the independent publication. Proud to say that we are still going strong after six years!

As the inaugural, founding Editor-in-Chief of the Review, I have stepped down from my post as Editor-in-Chief and now advise the publication as one amongst four co-founders and directors who sit on the Board of Directors. I am in charge of providing strategic and higher-level advisory oversight and support to the current Editorial Board.

I was the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of an Oxford-based international political publication aimed towards producing high-quality think pieces, commentaries and interviews on current affairs, political science, and international relations. I lead the Executive team of the publication in coordinating and managing the publication's directors, coordinating staff, writers, and designers. In my editorial role, I have interviewed prominent figures such as Kevin Rudd, Leni Robredo, Noam Chomsky, Cornel West, Kim Campbell, Gina McCarthy, Alan Rusbridger, Joseph Nye, Jeffrey Sachs, Paul Collier, amongst others.

https://hkethicslab.com/people/ The Hong Kong Ethics Lab (HKEL) is a group of researchers based at the University of Hong Kong focused on contemporary ethical issues with practical impact. Our mission is to drive academic research and public engagement on pressing issues of ethical concern - from the intersection of AI and governance, to reparations over colonialism and historical injustices and understanding the rights of non-human entities (e.g. animals). We believe philosophy is an integral part of how we conceptualise and understand the moral fabric of our everyday lives. Am honoured to serve as a member of the Steering Committee alongside my colleagues, Prof. Justin Tiwald and Prof. Nathaniel Sharadin!

Appointed to a fellowship at an Oxford-based, independent, non-partisan think-tank looking at interdisciplinary analyses of and responses to international challenges on a global scale.

Serving as a research lead and contributor to a newly established think-tank in Oxford, with a personal particular focus on the intersection between politico-philosophical and geopolitical implications of authoritarian regimes. The think-tank itself is an interdisciplinary institution that aims to tackle challenges on a global scale through drawing upon innovation and collaboration across national borders.

I publish articles and commentaries (in Chinese) on one of the largest and most prominent broadsheet newspapers in Hong Kong, focussing on the relevance and applications of political and sociological theories to current affairs analysis. Under my weekly and widely syndicated column, I have published over 250 articles in Chinese and English, with extensive circulation and reach amongst the intelligentsia, political, and business community in Hong Kong and Greater China

I'm tasked with promoting awareness and understanding of the Rhodes Scholarship, one of the most prestigious scholarships for post-graduate or further studies at Oxford, in Greater China and Hong Kong.

Awarded a full, three-year Rhodes Scholarship (Hong Kong) to pursue a DPhil in Politics at Balliol College, Oxford from 2020 to 2023. Defended thesis in viva with minor corrections on June 14, 2023. Received Leave to Supplicate (confirmation of DPhil degree) on July 12, 2023. Graduated on September 22, 2023.

A two-year advanced Master's degree specialising in political theory at Wolfson College, Oxford. Awarded Distinction for First Class Honours marks across all modules (74, 75, and 76 for three Written Examinations), across both First and Second Years. My thesis, "Towards A Moral Debt Account of Reparative Justice", also received a Distinction mark.

Top 10 in the 2018 PPE cohort (97% percentile), top in year for 2 out of 8 papers. Received full funding from the Kwok Scholars Association to pursue a 3-year undergraduate PPE programme at Oxford. Also a Pembroke Scholar (for excellent performance in Prelims); received Distinction for First Year Examinations. Upgraded to Oxford MA in October 2022.
