I served as the Bechtel Records Officer. In addition I managed the Records Department that included: Document Control, Forms Control, Correspondence Control, Engineering Document Control, and Records Management. I provided day-to-day mentoring and leadership to the various employees under my stewardship. I served as the subject matter expert on records programs, processes, and initiatives. I supported the legal department in responding to litigation/discovery actions. I evaluated records collections to determine which records had continuing value (long-term historical significance), records requiring short-term retention (administrative/business needs), and records eligible for destruction (a solid inventory was way over due, the result of which was that many records had been retained far past their lifespan resulting in noncompliance). This effort helped us begin to regain control and compliance and diminish the costs associated with storing records too long. I held a Q Clearance while in Nevada.
