I developed a "recruitment guide" book, introduced affirmative action, equal employment and accommodation statements on job postings. Developed recruitment related templates (1 for job descriptions, job postings, phone interview guides, in person interview guides, etc.). I also reintroduced internal postings being shared within the organization for new job vacancies. During my recruitment meetings I conducted a needs analysis with managers to determine how the recruiting process will be initialized. Primarily recruitment pipeline included Indeed with some use of LinkedIn and job fairs. Reported temporary labor hours to each respective agency. Recruited for roles related to general labor/skilled labor in food production environment. As well as transportation industry (AZ Drivers, Logistic Coordinators) and office administration/accounting personnel.

Human Resources Assistant (Internship)

As the Human Resources Assistant I was involved in reviewing and updating company policies - having introduced an Equal Employment Opportunity and Open Door Policy. I updated the company's health and safety board (new form 82's and the 2019 updates for the OHAS Act). I introduced an affirmative action statement for job postings. I was also involved with uploading job postings on Indeed, screening resumes, contacting candidates and conducting in-person and phone interviews. I updated the first aid kit and introduce a first aid kit log to be used for tracking inventory. I had exposure to provincial differences regarding legislation as Sunrise Records has stores operating across different provinces. I am proud to say I was also responsible for redesigning their new hire orientation training - introducing a new slideshow presentation and updated their orientation manual. Assisted with promoting a more inclusive work environment by introducing gender neutral bathroom signs and eliminating previous binary ones, made recommendations to implement employee pronouns on email signatures. Limited exposure to payroll and benefits. I was also responsible for adding new hires into their HRIS system (ADP). Developed new health and safety board packages that were mailed out to all Ontario store locations.

I was hired on after the holiday season as a "Core" staff member. Successfully hired from an application pool of 50 seasonal staff. My responsibilities included assisting customers with identifying products suitable for their hair and skin care routines dependent on their needs (catering each and every experience). I also acted as a gift giving expert during the holiday season to help customers identify suitable gifts for their holiday needs. In this position, I also engaged in hosting private parties where attendees learn about the company and detailed information about each of the products being showcased. Continually embodied excellent customer service experiences while maintaining LUSH's "do it with heart" philosophy.

One of my biggest accomplishments was that I reviewed and edited the Employee Handbooks and Welcome Packages for New Hires, to include Bill 147 changes and policy adjustments. I audited employee files for proper documentation and was the gate keeper for them too. I implemented a behaviour analysis-based interview style and performed interviews (1-on-1). I have familiarity with utilizing Indeed for posting job recruitment advertisements. I maintained all communications with candidates and developed email scripts for interviewing and communicating with them. I was also responsible for on-going review and selection of resumes/applications (performed weekly). I assisted with on-boarding of new hires. I was also involved with the maintenance of a database for Personal Emergency Leave (P.E.L) and Vacation Payout records amongst employees. From this, I have also gained familiarity with EasyPay payroll software - responsible for inputting new employees into payroll system and providing staff with login credentials.

I entered my first year at McMaster with two separate entrance scholarships - the Social Sciences' Award of Excellence and a McMaster's Honours Award. Upon completion of my first year studies, I qualified for - and accepted - membership into the prestigious Golden Key International Honour Society for Scholastic Achievement (Top 15% of Program).
