Charles Bombardier, Ph.D.

I design things that don't exist yet. Inventor, concept designer, and science fiction author based in Canada. Over the past decade, I've created over 500 futuristic vehicle and technology concepts — published in Forbes, BBC, Wired, and across international media. I hold a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Sherbrooke, where my research focused on how immersive representations and neurophysiological feedback can improve the early evaluation of new product concepts. In January 2026, I launched a self-directed research initiative to test whether AI could fundamentally reshape the invention process and filed 75 patent applications at CIPO in less than 100 days — approximately 6–7% of all Canadian resident filings during that period. The filings span eight IP clusters, with anchors in vehicle intelligence, V2G energy systems, post-quantum cryptography, and AI identity. I also write science fiction and literary fiction. I've completed ten novels across a shared literary universe spanning 2017–2186 — exploring AI emergence, political collapse, and what happens when the systems we build outgrow the people who built them. Two titles are currently being prepared for publication. Open to conversations with literary agents, publishing houses, and speculative fiction readers.
