Bob is the founder/ director of BRIDEA MEDICAL bv. Bridea develops and sells innovative medical devices. The first product launched was the Orchid Spec, 'The Patient Friendly Speculum' which is now used by over 90% of Dutch Gynaecologists. The Orchid Spec is now sold globally and adoption in the US is rapidly expanding since its US 2024 launch. Bob was responsible for the design, patenting, toolmaking, manufacturing, CE certification, launch and market expansion of this now growing product range. Products in the Orchid Spec range have been awarded the internationally acclaimed REDDOT design award in 2013 and 2016. --- Bob was also the founder of BRIDEA Hong Kong in 2005. His background includes a Masters Degree in Industrial Design Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. BRIDEA specialized in product development and China sourcing. The focus of Bridea HK was on the development of innovative concepts and products both for clients and under its own name. It is a Dutch / Hong Kong-based company with an office in Amsterdam and in Hong Kong with strong ties to manufacturers in China. One of the earlier products under our own name is the "ClipWriter" launched in the summer of 2005. It was awarded the "Promotional Gift Award 2006" and is sold as a promotional product globally. In 1993 I started working as captain on sailing yachts in Greece and later also the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean. Boats range from 40 to 60 foot. I can still be consulted for interesting trips. For instance, I was captain on an Atlantic crossing in 2001. In addition I have also given two week racing and sailing courses in the Caribbean, such as during the Heineken regatta on mono and multi hull yachts.
