A Literacy Coach works with the principal and school improvement team to develop a school-wide plan to improve the literacy achievement of all students in the school that includes professional development, modeling and observing classroom instruction, and providing feedback to teachers. The position entails developing, implementing and assessing instructional strategies to improve academic literacy, overall achievement in core content areas, problem solving skills, and use of modern technology for all students in the school.

Write lesson plans for and instruct English courses. Utilize online eCompanion software to facilitate learning outside the classroom by utilizing document sharing, threaded discussion prompts, class chat, grade book, and other features.

Write lesson plans for and instruct graduate level courses in the Master of Education program.

Provide pre- and post-sales support to schools for effective integration of standards based computer assisted instructional software. Collaboratively develop and execute implementation plans for schools to ensure the successful integration of CompassLearning, Inc. software into the classroom. Conduct professional development workshops utilizing Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction. Facilitate the training of customers to assist educators in using products to enhance academic objectives. Maintain effective and consistent communication with customers to ensure effective implementation and customer satisfaction.

Present computer based education applications to clients. Facilitate initial training, follow-up sessions, or specialized training workshops. Tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of each client. Conduct integration workshops where a school’s specific goals and PLATO solutions are customized to meet exact needs of the school.
