Bing Guan is a freelance photographer and journalist based in New York City. He is currently an adjunct professor of photography at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Born in Australia and raised in the United States, Bing attended Dartmouth College and graduated from Columbia University with a BA cum laude in modern East and Southeast Asian history. He has reported from throughout the U.S. and abroad, including Antigua, Burma, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Rwanda. Bing is a regular contributor to Bloomberg, The New York Times, Reuters, and The Wall Street Journal, and has also worked on assignment for outlets including Politico, TIME, The Washington Post, and WIRED. His images have been recognized American Photography, the Parsons School of Design, and others. He is the recipient of residency fellowships from the Ucross Foundation and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and was shortlisted for a 2025 Creative Capital Award. Bing speaks Mandarin Chinese, and is HEFAT and FAA Part 107-certified as a drone pilot. He holds a US passport, as well as NYC and UN HQ press credentials. He is represented by the Monroe Gallery of Photography for fine art prints. He is available for editorial and commercial assignments, anytime, anywhere.
