About
I am a hardware/software engineer specializing in embedded, real-time microprocessor systems and sub-systems. I gather requirements, write proposals, design systems, develop schedules, do pricing, design circuits, layout and assemble printed circuit boards, develop software, integrate it all together, and test it. I have done this kind of work on projects that range from single, custom interface boards to multi-processor, distributed real-time control systems. I have a binocular microscope and a soldering station. With these, I can assemble printed circuit boards with components as small as 0402.

computer programmer and system administrator
united states air force
1st Lt developed the Population Assessment program (POPA) and the Route Assessment Program Interface (RAPI) for a global thermonuclear war game in COBOL. Served as a system administrator on 2 WWCCMS systems analyzing system crash dumps and developed software to declassify a system, dump the contents of memory to magnetic tape, convert a memory dump tape to standard dump format, and checkpoint a user's program to disk.

scientist
saic
I worked for SAIC for 36.5 years. During that time I worked as a hardware engineer designing custom electronics for the Army and NASA. I also designed custom products which SAIC sold to U.S. nuclear power plants. I worked as a software engineer also for the Army and NASA and numerous nuclear power plants. For the Army I wrote programs to monitor the quality of ammunition. monitor Link-16 military network traffic. I was the software technical lead for the robotic work cells at NASA's Solid Rocket Refurbishment Facility at Kennedy Space Center. I was also software lead for modernization projects for 3 NASA Ames wind tunnels. I co-designed SAIC's initial nuclear power plant monitoring system and later I redesigned the data acquisition sub-system. I managed projects supplying technical support to NASA and a custom data multiplexer to Kentron International on Kwajalein for the Pacific Missile Range.

belcan
I designed 3 custom interface cards, 1 analog and 2 digital, for Rolls-Royce Plant Automation & Monitoring in Huntsville, AL. I did the printed circuit card layout for the analog card and 1 of the digital cards. I also designed some circuit prototype cards, did the PCB layout and then assembled and tested the circuits.
