JCCC is home to over 30,000 credit & non-credit students offering a wide variety of classes to international students as well as local. As an adjunct professor, I bring my real-world experience of social media and marketing into the class in an interactive and experiential way. Global Ties KC ... "Bringing the world to you." Every year, the U.S. government brings over 4,000 visitors to the United States on short term professional exchange programs. The International Visitor Leadership program hand-picks rising stars from around the globe, and brings them to the United States for two to three-week programs, to meet with their professional counterparts, have dinner with local families, and to learn about the basic tenets of American democracy, volunteerism, and civil society. To date, over 330 individuals who have participated in these programs have gone on to become Presidents and Heads of State in their home countries. Similarly, the Department of State-sponsored youth and adult programs bring high school students and young professionals to the US for multi-week programs with host families.

In my role as an Internet Marketing Consultant, I learned how to develop a client base (really get to know each client's business and their needs) and deliver the best service ... communication is key. Working for Webtown Media, gave me the experience I needed to start & manage my first company - a social media company.

Temerlin McClain (TM Advertising) is a full-service agency with offices in Dallas, Seattle, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, and Toronto, one of the largest full-service agencies in the southern US. The agency has an interactive group called t:m interactive, which now accounts for about 25% of TM's revenue. In my role as Account Exec, I gained a solid understanding of how to create sales reports & develop strategies, which allowed me to brainstorm effective ideas/solutions. Additionally, planning and managing several client projects at once...while making sure no detail went unnoticed on ad/artwork copy were other daily tasks that became second nature. The experience I received at TM Advertising, has allowed me to be successful in my business ventures - including a social media agency, a consulting and training company, and a house and pet sitting business. Skills such as project planning and managing, communicating/educating clients, implementing strategies, and handling various deadline pressures.

Evreux Volleyball Club gained the #1 ranking in 2007, which moved the team up to the top professional level. As a setter, I learned to work effectively with & motivate people from other cultures & backgrounds. This took mental toughness, courage, and discipline. Yes, even my experience as a professional volleyball player has helped me excel in business, entrepreneurship, and building people/teams. I understand how to relate to and work with people from different cultures, as well as how to integrate various people's strengths & backgrounds to achieve a goal/project.

Focusing on Business/Marketing and Sociology in my studies has proven to be a natural fit in allowing me to use my futuristic, maximizing, strategic strengths to think and create solutions that align with whomever the specific audience or need is.
