As a dedicated and passionate youth justice social worker, advocate, and prevention specialist, I am committed to empowering young people to overcome the challenges they face and achieve their full potential. With over 20 years of experience in the field, I have honed my skills in developing and implementing programs, interventions, and services that address the unique needs of at-risk youth. In my current role as a Youth Justice Social Worker at the City of Calgary, I have been instrumental in providing individualized support to young people who are involved in the justice system. I work closely with families, schools, and other community organizations to create comprehensive plans that address the underlying issues that contribute to their behavior. Through a strengths-based approach, I help young people build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem, so they can navigate life's challenges with confidence and positivity. In addition to my work as a social worker, I am also an advocate for the rights of young people. I have been actively involved in advocacy initiatives within the school system, with Alberta Health Services and community resources. I have served on several work committees to advocate and implementing programming related to youth justice and social justice issues. As a prevention specialist, I am passionate about educating young people about the risks and consequences of negative behaviors, such as drug use, gang involvement, and other criminal activity. I work collaboratively with schools, community groups, and other stakeholders to develop prevention programs that are engaging, effective, and culturally sensitive. I hold a degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary, and have completed additional training and professional development in areas such as Mediation, Brain Development, Trauma and Social Competency. I am deeply committed to ongoing learning and growth, and stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in youth justice and social work.
