Designed and carried out 3 experiments to investigate the role the microbiome in 51 potato cultivars grown under low water and fertiliser inputs Prepared metagenomic (bacteria and fungi) libraires of 500+ environmental samples. Sequenced the libraries and created bioinformatic workflows to comprehensively analyse microbial communities (diversity, composition, core microbiome, differential abundant analysis, co-occurrence networks, community assembly processes etc) Published as first author 2 research articles in BMC Microbiology and FEMS Microbiology Ecology. Conducted market research, and in collaboration with a cross functional team (sales team, IT developers, business partners) developed and launched a mobile App that connects skilled workers with customers. Developed strategic communication tactics to reach Bline's audience. Managed daily business operations, leading a team of 6 field sales representatives, resulting in the registration of 400+ service providers across 10 industries within 2 months. Conducted beta testing of the App and implemented data-driven processes to gather feedback from 2,500+ customers, enhancing user experience and product-market fit.

Assessment of the rhizosphere microbiome of an endemic plant from Kerguelen island. Work included: DNA extraction and 16S and ITS metagenomic library preparation for 100+ soil and rhizosphere samples Sequencing of the libraries on the Illumina MiSeq platform Pre-processing, diversity and composition analysis of the microbiome data using R, contributing to publication in Frontiers

Evaluate the effect of the plant pathogenic Alternaria on the quality of Arabidopsis thaliana seeds.

We investigated the role of the apple epiphytic microbiota in the efficacy of Pichia anomala used as a biocontrol agent (BCA) in the control of the fungus Botrytis cinerea. In collaboration with the Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven, we studied the impact of two BCAs (Trichoderma and Bacillus) on drought tolerance in banana plants.

We performed phylogenetic trees of plant pathogenic bacteria and fungus. Tasks included sampling of wild and cultivated Brassicaceae, isolation and purification of microbial cultures, colony PCRs, amplicon sequencing and data analysis.
