Benjamin Wachtel
2nd Unit Director @ Marvel Studios
About
Benjamin Wachtel is a creative director/producer, communications expert, and product visionary who helps innovators, entrepreneurs, and executives nurture ideas, spread messages, and shift culture. As a member of the Directors Guild of America, Benjamin executes large-budget productions for Disney, Showtime, Lionsgate, and NBC Universal in collaboration with veteran directors and executive producers. Over the past decade, Benjamin has traveled across the globe, working closely with diverse teams to deliver groundbreaking content, communication, and commercial projects on time and under budget. His pioneering career in entertainment, storytelling, and software gives him a visual, emotional, and practical sense of what appeals to and mobilizes audiences. In 2020—leveraging his film, television, and transmedia expertise to create narrative strategies, omni-channel technologies, and immersive software experiences—Benjamin co-founded OurCo. This next-gen communications platform combined a SaaS-tethered mobile app, population-engagement dashboard, and data-science backend to unite individuals, organizations, and communities around policies, programs, and projects. The platform—first launched in a national charter school system in the U.S.—analyzes crowd-sourced sentiment in real-time to inform, adapt, and pre-sell decisions made by high-level administrators in schools, government agencies, and other enterprises. Born in Moscow and raised in London and New York City, Benjamin developed a real-world appreciation for global affairs that led to him to excel in the prestigious film program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Sought-out by Hollywood before he graduated, Benjamin chose film projects of global significance and kept his hand on the pulse of international affairs (concurrently serving as a communications expert for the Maldives Mission to the United Nations). He continues to serve as a narrative, content-development, and content-syndication strategist for social-impact pioneers, enterprises, and brands. Benjamin improves the direction, tone, and impact of modern discourse by engaging diverse audiences in the shared telling of unsung stories.
