Benjamin Relly (formerly Josi)

Innosuisse-founded Medical Design Research Project based on my industrial design bachelor thesis with Hylomorph AG. In an interdisciplinary team we are further developing our already-patented applicator tool. We are researching auxetic structures as well as self-deploying geometries to reach our ultimate goal: to perfect tool usability for surgeons in order to eliminate errors in the operating room.

As part of an outstanding product design team, I bring my technical background and design skills to the table. From concept creation to the final CMF implementation, I work to give the client and consumer the best possible experience with the product. The main area of my work is the design of hardware, from the first concept sketch to renderings, prototypes and the tooling data of the final product.

Design Engineer in Product Development. I developed new products, revised and optimized existing ones in a great team of designers and engineers. The close cooperation between the development team, the producers and the customers has driven my enthusiasm for a holistic design approach.

Apprenticeship as a design engineer in mechanical engineering. As a final project I developed a device for use in a cleanroom. This first experience in design in the medical field sparked my further interest in medical design.

Apprenticeship as a design engineer in the field of offset rotary printing machines. The training in mechanical engineering with a focus on technical drawing and CAD gave me a solid technical foundation for my further development as a designer.
