I worked on the float team from May 2011 to August 2012. I worked on a PRN schedule about once or twice a week. My unit closed while I was working so I stopped working after that time and focused on school.

I assisted nurses by taking vital signs, logging inputs and outputs, and helping patient’s with their basic needs.

We worked on a study titled: "Parental and Physician Perceptions Regarding Preventability of Pediatric Re-admissions to a Children's Hospital". - My job was to interview family members of readmitted pediatric patients about ways to decrease hospital readmissions. The patient's physician also contributed their thoughts about the readmission.

We are studying physician and patient communication through a qualitative study titled "Neonatologist's and Parent's Communication when Prognosis is Uncertain: Bridging Disparities". - Through interviews, our team evaluates this interaction on a variety of levels. We interview both neonatologists and patient family member about their interactions with each other. The patients selected from this study are NICU patients and are dealing with very critical and uncertain diagnoses.

I worked on the float team from May 2011 to August 2012. I have since worked full time in the emergency room. While at work I am responsible for recording vital signs, transport patients, take EKG readings, call physicians for consults, input physician and nurse orders into computer system, stock IV carts, set up telemetry, and a variety of other tasks under nurse’s and doctor’s orders.

As an ambassador I would help plan and participate in different school functions such as the apple polishing event, banquets and celebrations for the USF alumni, and volunteer events such as the Special Olympics. Activities and Societies: USF Ambassadors
