Preclinical Scientist for Johnson & Johnson - Robotics and Digital Solutions. Focusing on preclinical strategy and study execution for the Ottava Robotic Surgical System, Advanced Energy Devices, Endomechanical Devices, & Advanced Visualization Systems. Testing consists of regulatory requirement's testing, R&D development, VOC sessions, and expanded indications and claims studies. I generate preclinical strategies from the concept of a product and execute on those studies to ensure a safe & effective device is approved and marketed. This work includes collaboration with cross-functional internal/external stakeholders and KOLs. IACUC approved preclinical surgeon for multiple general surgery procedures and tasks. Manager & mentor with direct reports.

● Provides solutions to complex technical problems. Investigates novel models for simulated use applications. ● Lead preclinical animal studies across Stryker’s Orthopaedic R&D groups. Recently managed completion of two in-vivo studies on new implant materials with CRO and champion surgeon. Also supported implant design and drafting of publication. ● Manage histology and biologic evaluation laboratories: forecasting budget, allocating resources for priority testing, supporting testing needs for all Stryker divisions, and developing new biocompatibility evaluation methods (including novel direct and elution cytotoxicity testing). ● Project lead on a grant funded program with an external startup. Responsibilities include managing communications and activities with the startup and grant officer, mechanical testing, implant design, in-vitro and in-vivo testing, project management, and providing quarterly updates to VP level executives. ● Led investigations into two external startup anti-infection technology companies and one internally developed anti-infection technology. ● Oversee and review polyethylene production batch testing and validation with Quality, Operations, and external vendor. ● Leader of people; one PhD intern and one lab technician. Internship/Co-op

As a graduate student I was tasked with culturing cells, tissue engineering blood vessel mimics, imaging, and electrospinning. For the majority of my involvement during this contract, I was tasked with contributing testing results and leadership as a group of the lab carried out a large study for an industry leading medical device company.
